Today marks the second stage of South Australia’s nation-leading ban on Single-Use Plastics.
The SA Government introduced the Single-use and Other Plastic Products (Waste Avoidance) Act in 2020, and since March 1st 2021 residents have observed plastic straws, cutlery and stirrers being prohibited from sale, supply or distribution in South Australia including their bioplastic alternatives.
Their second stage being implemented today March 1st, 2022 will see expanded polystyrene cups, bowls, plates and clamshell containers prohibited from sale, supply or distribution in South Australia.
Oxo-degradable plastics commonly used for doggy bags and clothes covers will also be prohibited from production, manufacture, supply and sale in the state.
Another exciting move in the push for sustainability.
