Russell Cook, dubbed the “Hardest Geezer,” has triumphantly concluded his epic journey running the entire length of Africa, crossing the finish line in Tunisia after 352 days.

Before embarking on this monumental challenge, Cook expressed his desire to live life without regrets. Battling with mental health issues, gambling, and alcohol, the 27-year-old from Worthing, West Sussex, aimed to make a positive impact.

Through his incredible feat, spanning 16 countries, Cook has raised over £700,000 for charity. As he reached the finish line in Ras Angela, Tunisia, amidst cheers and chants of “geezer,” he expressed his exhaustion but also his accomplishment.

Having encountered numerous obstacles, including visa issues, armed robbery and physical ailments, Cook persevered with unwavering determination.

As he crossed the finish line at about 16:40 BST in Ras Angela, Tunisia, Mr Cook was greeted by a shouting crowd, with many chanting “geezer”.

“I’m pretty tired,” he told reporters.

Now, with the Sahara Desert conquered and the finish line crossed, Cook’s journey culminates in celebration. Joined by supporters worldwide, he completes his extraordinary endeavour, with a well-deserved strawberry daiquiri awaiting him.
