The 1987 movie was based on Edmond Rostand’s 1897 play Cyrano de Bergerac.
The new retelling of Cyrano is set in 17th-century Paris where the titular character, played by Peter Dinklage, dazzles everyone with his ferocious wordplay and brilliant swordplay.
However, like in Roxanne, he thinks his appearance makes him unworthy of the beautiful Roxanne, a dear friend who’s in love with someone else. Le sigh.
