VELVET REWIRED
The Moa – Gluttony
6:30pm nightly
Velvet rewired is back in Gluttony at the Adelaide Fringe and it really has it all.
Dazzling death defying acrobatics – tick. Mind blowing vocals – tick. The disco hits you just wanna move your feet to – tick. Plus, Australia’s Queen, Marcia Hines…big tick!
The resident DJ and percussionist gets you going a few minutes before showtime until aforementioned Queen Hines steps out to a rapturous applause…supported by honestly what feels like world-class performers, all of whom should have their own epic careers, but for now we’re glad they’re in Adelaide giving us these Velvet vibes.
Housed in the Moa in Gluttony — which has air conditioning by the way, this sweaty boy was stoked — you’ll cop it in front of you, above you and all around you, PLUS you’ll know every single song and the hardest part will be leaving your bum firmly planted in your seat…which, if the crowd at my show is anything to go by, you don’t need to. Get up and dance if the mood strikes.
Working their way through disco hits spanning the generations, the aerial, vocals and lightning-fast quick changes will leave you gobsmacked, giving Marcia a delightful view of the dangly thing at the back of your throat as she scans the audience winking at everyone else but me. I really just wanted a bloody wink from Marcia!
The award-winning and universally appealing Velvet Rewired will dazzle and delight all ages with dance, disco and drama — which could easily take place on the biggest world stages and venues — so while it’s here in Adelaide, let’s support this epic production.
Other things we loved: Velvet Rewired is at 6:30pm every night, giving you plenty of time to get there after work, see the show and spend the rest of the night agonising over which delicious Fringe foods to eat afterwards…burgers, baos, butter chickens or bloody marys – make a night of it and don’t miss Velvet Rewired.
